Seminar on reporting some activities under the Anzali Wetland Ecological Management Project – Phase II was held on 28th Feb 2019 at PBO Gilan Seminar Room.

Around 100 people from relevant organizations attended the seminar.

At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. Keivan MOHAMMADI, the Head of PBO, said the importance of achievements of the project and some recent activities of JET.

He pointed to waste and sewage as two main issues in Gilan Province and declared that they are ready to continue their cooperation with JICA to remove environmental issues in Gilan Province.

Mr.Yukiharu KOBAYASHI, chief representative of JICA Iran Office, said friendly relationship between Iran and Japan and said that up to now, different activities on waste management, sewage management, watershed management and others have been conducted in Anzali Wetland and considerable outcomes have been achieved.

Mr. Tomoo AOKI, chief advisor of JICA Expert Team (JET) said that the project includes transporting the technology of environmental conservation to Iranian side. He informed 15 Japanese experts of JET attended the project. And he briefly explained history of JICA cooperation for the Anzali Wetland and outline of the project including about 30 Joint Pilot Activities (JPAs). He also explained the establishment and improvement of four centers Anzali Wetland Environmental Education Center, Ecotourism Center, Nature School and Visitor Center, as hub of CEPA (Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness) by the project.

Mr.Hideki IMAI, expert of watershed management, had presentation of the results of JPA of watershed management such as construction works for mountainous erosion and sediment control in Alenze sub-basins and mid-term plan of it.

Mr.Takeki KAJIURA, expert of sewage management, explained the result of JPA of sewage management such as vacuum sewage collection system and mid-term plan of it.

Mr.Tomoyuki HOSONO, expert of waste management, explained the result of JPA of waste management such as village-based valuable recyclables collection and organic waste composting and river waste collection in DSS village and mid-term plan of it.

Mr.Mohmadpour, Director General of DOE Gilan, appreciated the JICA Expert Team.

In addition, JET exhibited many panels and posters of the activities and showed videos in front of the seminar room.

After the seminar, Dr. Keivan MOHAMMADI, appreciated the all members of JICA and presented gifts.
