Development of Community-based Ecotourism

  • Purpose: To develop unique, fun and educational ecotourism by participation of local people under a wise-use and CEPA concept of the Ramsar wetland.
  • Outcome: Trainings for villagers were implemented to implement ecotours such as kayak, handicraft, local cooking in Jirsar Baghakhaleh Village. Some of tours and promotion started.
  • Future Plan: Technical advice will be provided by JICA experts till the end of the project.
  • Topic: On 25 and 26 January 2018, two local members of the village and JET joined the 11th International Tourism Exhibition in Tehran, supported by Iran Culture, Heritage, and Tourism Organization. Brochures and banners for the exhibition were prepared to promote the activities of community-based ecotourism. More than 1,000 visitors visited the booth.
