Selkeh Aquatic Plant Survey in Progress

A survey team consisting of Dr.Bahram Zehzad from Shahid Beheshti University, and Dr.Mirzajani from National Inland Aquaculture Institute (NIWAI) is in progress to identify the flora of aquatic plant around the Anzali Wetland Environmental Education Center in Selkeh Wildlife Refuge for baseline information of education programs.

The survey team with Mr.Watanabe in charge of Environmental Education and Wetland Ecosystem Conservation and Mr.Taghipour, DOE implemented joint survey around the wooden path and the biotope on 11th November, 2018.

Many aquatic plants such as Duck Weed (Spirodela polyrhiza), Spiny Water Nimph (Najas marina), Longleaf Pondweed (Potamogeton nodosus), Curly-leaf Pondweed (Potamogeton crispus), Broadleaf Cattail (Typha latifolia), Southern Cattail (Typha angustifolia), Reed (Phragmites australis), Coontail (Ceratophyllum demersum), Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera), Eurasian Watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) were observed in the joint survey. The result of the survey will be utilized for education programs in future.
