JICA Expert Team showed panels with many photos to introduce Kushiro-shitsugen Wetland, which is one of the most important wetlands in Japan in the “Respect the nature, respect yourself festival” for the World Wetland Day promoted by the Ramsar Convention.
Kushiro-shitsugen is the first Ramsar Site in Japan, therefore it has so many experiences to conserve and restore the wetland ecosystem in cooperation with many stakeholders such as governmental organizations, scientists, NGOs and local people. In order to study these experiences and to promote a partnership between Kushiro and Anzali Wetland, more than 30 Iranian trainees related to the Anzali Wetland visited the Kushiro-shitsugen from 2008 until now. The partnership will be promoted continuously in the future.
