A meeting of the Monitoring Working Group of Wetland Ecosystem Conservation Sub-Committee was held on 15th August 2017 in DOE. The main agenda of the meeting were quality control of environmental analysis and the plan for August 2017. Based on the results of the comparative analysis in March 2017, in which water and sediment samples were analyzed in Japan and Europe to provide reference data about environmental quality of the Anzali Wetland, the working group members discussed how to ensure data quality. The members are acutely aware of the importance as well as the difficulty of generating reliable and consistent data across different organizations, and the members will continue to work on data quality issues in this fiscal year. As the project is approaching the end in less than two years, the members have also started discussing how to formulate and get funding for monitoring to be implemented after the completion of the project.
