The Environmental Education (EE) Sub-Committee (SC) under AWMC in cooperation with the relative organizations, including Department of Environment Gilan (DOE Gilan), Education Organization Gilan (EO) implemented regular EE programs for primary, lower and higher secondary school students. During this five years of Anzali Wetland Ecological Management Project-Phase II, numbers of participants in Experience- based Environmental Education Programs at Anzali Wetland EE Center (AWEEC) in Selke is increasing rapidly, and more than 3,000 individuals (including students, teachers, principals, members of Kanoon, and other relative organizations) from Rasht, Anzali, Some-Sara, Shaft, Tolamat, Masal, etc. participated in EE Programs. These programs regularly are recently implementing 3 or 4 times a week. More than 130 EE programs have been implemented up to now and many schools have expressed interest in participating in these programs.

Experienced EE program in wetland is unique trial in Iran. It is very effective to let students feel real nature in wetland. It must be a very precious opportunity for students. At first participants, learn about importance of Ecosystem of Wetland, beauties, issues and individual and group strategies to conserve the Anzali Wetland through instruction of Mr.Rooshani and Mr.Taghipour, the DOE Experts. After that the students will have experienced based program and study about wetland, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish by using the facilities and equipment provided by JICA Expert team including, binoculars, telescopes, microscopes, educational booklet, and by utilizing the Bird Hide and Bird Watching Tower, Wooden walking path and biotope. The information signboards on the wooden walking path give interesting information about parts of ecosystem to the visitors. Nature games are also another parts of these programs.

In addition, if you would like to go the AWEEC, you can go to the public open on every Friday. The public open of AWEEC, has been started from February 2018. This program which is continue up to now in cooperation of three NGOs (Gilan Women and Youth Environmentalist Association, Gilan Women against Environmental pollution, and Sarzamin-e-Ideal ma, Environmental Institute give public visitors the opportunity to understand the Wetland closely. More than 2,000 visitors from Gilan, and other provinces visited the center up to now. The center is open every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for public to visit.

JICA Expert Team hopes that the Experience based EE Programs in cooperation with relevant organization and with DOE management will continue regularly.
