Enhancement of Guard Station’s Function

  • Purpose: To control illegal hunting, fishing and land use in protected areas for protection.
  • Outcome: DOE guards controlled illegal hunting with support from JET drone. In addition, they were trained by through boundary patrol s with GIS map.
  • Future: Equipment such as drone, binocular and telescope will be provides with instructions for effective use.
  • Topic: JET and DOE guards implemented several joint illegal hunting patrols by using drone in winter 2018. The drone detected several illegal hunting sites near the Selkeh Wildlife Refuge Guard Station. Two sites were very large-scale with long mist-net and cottage. DOE guards immediately went to the site and destruct the hunting facilities based on the coordinates detected by drone.
