Anzali Wetland Management Committee (AWMC) has been established under the Provincial Governor’s office and the technical support of JICA expert team, and consists of 6 different sub-committees, one of which is Ecotourism SC. The sub-committee consists of the representatives of GCHHTO, DOE Gilan, NRWGO and the Director General of Rural Affairs Office of Gilan Provincial Governor’s office.
Concept of the Anzali Wetland Ecotourism
The concept of Anzali Wetland Ecotourism is illustrated in the figure below. Anzali Wetland Ecotourism SC aims to enhance the value of the Wetland by connecting the natural environment to tourism and local communities. It nurtures local people’s pride and affection in their hometowns. Anzali Wetland Ecotourism is an agent which creates close ties among the natural environment, tourism and local communities. In this close connection, tourists and local people would respect and appreciate the local natural and cultural environment. In addition, Anzali Wetland Ecotourism contributes to development of self-sustained economy around the wetland, and also creates a positive cycle of tourism, local economy, and environment.
Concept of the Anzali Wetland Ecotourism
