On 1 June, 2017, 6th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting was held at the Provincial Governor’s Office, chaired by Dr. Masoud Bagherzadeh KARIMI, representative of Department of Environment (DOE), with attendance of the relevant organizations for the Project, including Mr. Hojat SHABANPOUR, Deputy Governor for Development of Gilan Province, Mr. Keivan Mohammadi, Head for PBO Gilan Mr. Ghorban Ali MOHAMMADPOUR, Director General of DOE Gilan, and Mr. Yukiharu KOBAYASHI, the new Chief Representative of JICA Iran Office.

More than 50 participants attended and the following issues were discussed in the meeting.

  • Latest Progress of Project Activities: Each representative of all the technical sub-committees (SCs) made presentations on the latest progress of the project activities in the 3rd year of the project, mainly on the Joint Pilot Activities (JPAs), plan for the 4th year of the project, and issues in implementing the activities. The progress of the project activities were confirmed by the JCC member organizations, which are described in the Progress Report No. 3 of the project, and any issues need to be examined by each SC soon and to be reported in the AWMC meeting.
  • Direction for the Further Stage: Mr. Tomoo Aoki, Chief Advisor of the JET, made a presentation on some points to be examined and implemented in further stage of the project including meaning of the JPAs implementation, Removal from the Montreaux Record, and Sustainability of the Anzali Wetland conservation with budgeting system for regular conservation activities, and planned project activities in the 4th year of the project.
  • Schedule of the Next JCC: The attendants agreed that the next JCC meeting would be held on appropriate date in August 2017 in the beginning of 4th year of the project, attended by the member organizations, to confirm a Work Plan of the 4th year of the project, including plans of the JPAs and other project activities such as preparation of the Mid-term Plan.

Further continuing activities are expected in the coming 4th year of the project.
